442 MW projects in Virginia, USA have been reportedly purchased by Apex Clean Energy from clean energy developer SolUnesco. The Purchase as announced by Apex Clean Energy has expanded the company’s portfolio to 3GW nationwide.
Apex already has a considerable presence in Virginia with three of its projects including Pinewood Wind, Rocky Forge Wind and Dragonfly Solar. Apex is a National leader in provide clean energy solutions including solar and wind energy while Apex has simultaneously pursued a strategy focused on energy storage as well. The 75 MW Rocky Forge Wind Project along with 80 MW Dragonfly project has received permit approvals form the county unanimously. Virginia being Apex’s home state is ideally located for the company’s mission to provide 24/7 clean energy to corporate, industrial as well as utility scale customers.
Apex Clean Energy CEO Mark Goodwin, has stated in the recent statement that the project recently acquired from SolUnesco has highly sited by Experts and has strong landowner support along with significant economic and environmental benefits. As the company grows its utility scale wind and solar pipeline projects across the country, bringing these projects on-board and working will enable new revenue streams as well as job creation in the communities across the commonwealth of Virginia.
The new projects acquired from SolUnesco transaction includes Carvers Creek and Moody Creek with 150 MW of capacity each along with Rivanna Creek and Red Brick Projects with 12.5MW And 130 MW capacity respectively. After the acquisition, Apex’s total capacity in Virginia has reached to 700 MW. Apex has recently sold its 202 MW Sugar Creek Wind Project Algonquin Power and Utilities Corp and its 151 MW Dakota III Wind project to Engie.
The projects have combined capacity of powering 72,000 American homes with clean and sustainable electricity and $11 million in local and state tax revenues.
