Being cost-effective and made using recycled paperboard and newsprint, moulded fiber packaging is gaining traction, especially in food and beverages packaging. While in terms of volume, the market is projected to increase to 4.9% CAGR between 2016 and 2026.

Owing to the increasing consumption of fruits and eggs, food and beverages packaging is expected to dominate the global moulded fiber pulp packaging. The food and beverages packaging is projected to reach around $8,000 million by the end of 2026, registering 5.6% CAGR. New technologies to ensure eco-friendly and sustainable moulded fiber packaging

With advancement in technologies, companies have started using novel fibers such as bamboo, palm and sugarcane fibers to improve quality and efficiency of moulded fiber packaging. Major packaging companies are shifting focus towards moulded fiber pulp packaging as it is the most cost-efficient than other packaging solutions. Moreover, it is more durable under different temperature conditions. Offering better protection, various sectors have started using moulded fiber pulp packaging.

Moulded pulp packaging tools are generally made by processing metal tools. However, adopting innovative technologies, manufacturers have started producing efficient moulded pulp packaging tools. One such cost-effective and time saving alternative method for developing moulded pulp tooling is Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM).
