Orbis Corporation based in Oconomowoc has recent made an announcement of acquisition of South Carolina-based packaging company with approximately 250 employees. Orbis Corporation manufactures packaging equipment like bulk containers and reusable totes, particularly for automotive spare parts. The company recently acquired Piedmont-based Response Packaging.
According to the website of Response Packaging the company designs, conceptualizes, manufactures and prototypes reusable custom dunnage as well as fabricated steel rack solutions. Further, Orbis has acquired the company’s facilities in Greenville, Auburn Hills, Leon, Mich., Piedmont and Mexico. Orbis has been following a strategy to increase its custom business to cater consumers with a broader portfolio of solutions, President of Menasha Corp, Jim Kotek stated. This objective can be further fulfilled with the help of this acquisition of Response Packaging. The acquisition adds complementary capabilities as well as establishes a production presence in the Southeast and increased capabilities to meet requirements of the consumers in Mexico.

Orbis Opening Design Center in South Carolina
According to Industrial website, Orbis is opening a new prototyping and design center in South Carolina. The new facility is located in Spartanburg and keeps employees of the company closer to customer in Southeast. Orbis is replicating the design center in Madison Heights, Mich., near Detroit. The facility is specially developed for design and prototyping as well as collaboration. The company has two other designing facilities in Silao, Mexico and Mentor, Ohio.
Constructing a design center allows consumers to gain hands-on understanding of how their products and parts are likely to interact with Orbis reusable packaging. Orbis selected Spartanburg as a way to be closer to automakers as well as their part suppliers.
