JLG Industries, a leading aerial work platforms manufacturer and one of the key players in the global aerial work platforms market has entered into a partnership with XPO Logistics for aftermarket parts distribution. According to the terms of this partnership, XPO Logistics has contracted to package, store, and ship out JLG’s products in the North America region starting August of 2017. XPO Logistics will operate the Las Vegas and Atlanta centres for JLG. Both the centres will support Western and Eastern Canada and United States. Distribution centres in Atlanta and Las Vegas will shorten delivery times to most customers. This partnership however will close JLG’s Ohio distribution centre in Orrville in the coming year.
To ensure consistent and sustainable growth within its business, JLG assessed its strategy for aftermarket distribution. The JLG-XPO Logistics partnership centres on XPO Logistics’ distribution and warehousing facilities in key locations. Additionally, XPO Logistics comes with the necessary information technology and logistics infrastructure and is known to have a great excellence record.
Although the actual results will be proved once the new plan rolls out in August 2017, JLG hopes that shifting the distribution of its aftermarket parts nearer to consumers will lead to faster and cost-effective deliveries. JLG also anticipates that the lesser distances across the distribution centres in Las Vegas and Atlanta will reduce transportation costs incurred by customers.
